Meet the 2023-2024 Board

President
Leela Knapp
Leela is a senior Biochemistry major on the pre-medical track. She is thrilled to be your AED President for 2023-2024 and is super excited to see all of our members, new and returning. Aside from AED, Leela is an undergraduate TA for Biology on campus, and an undergraduate researcher in the Dussor-Price Lab. She also works in the Student Success Center as a chemistry tutor. In her free time, she likes to read, spend time with friends and go on walks.

Co Vice President
Subhaan Mian
Subhaan is senior neuroscience major on the pre-med track. This marks his third year on the executive board for AED and is filled with excitement for the upcoming year. Currently, he works as a research assistant in Dr. Price’s Pain Lab, a PLTL Leader for CHEM 1311 & 1312, and a TA for NSC 4354. In addition to his roles on campus, he serves as the Co-Lead Clinical Coordinator at the UGM Clinics and as a Medical Team Leader for Noorishment. Outside of his academics, he loves exploring new sports, bingeing shonen anime, and gaming with his friends. Fun fact- he is probably ordering a fiesta veggie burrito from Taco Bell right now.

Co Vice President
Owais Sayeed
Owais is a current junior majoring in Neuroscience on the pre-med track. He is looking forward to growing AED’s service programs and introducing new ideas including a research project for AED members. Currently, he serves as a clinical research assistant looking into memory & mindfulness, a peer leader in the Student Success Center, and a volunteer EMT. In addition to his roles on campus, he co-founded and serves on the Executive Board of Teen Learning Wizards, an educational 501c3 nonprofit. Outside of his academics, he loves hiking, spending time with friends, and gardening.

Co Secretary
Gloria Martinez
Gloria is a junior Healthcare Studies major with a Molecular & Cell Biology minor on the pre-dental track. She looks forward to her second year on the executive board, hoping to provide new resources and connections to this year's AED members, both new and returning. Aside from AED, Gloria is a part of the UT Dallas Power Dancers (2X National Titles), serves as a Mentor for the Freshman Mentor Program, participates in the Pre-Dental Association, and works as a certified temp RDA (Registered Dental Assistant). In her free time, Gloria enjoys spending time with family & friends, shopping, and exploring the DFW area. She is excited to watch AED grow and accomplish new goals in an encouraging environment for all this school year.

Victor Thieu
Victor is a senior Biology major with minors in Business Administration and Psychology on the pre-medical track. He is looking forward to serving on the officer board for a third year and hopes to contribute fulfilling events and resources to the AED community. Outside of AED, Victor is a First Year Leader, an undergraduate TA for Cell & Molecular Biology Lab, and a research assistant in Dr. Park’s CANLab. In his free time, Victor likes to explore new restaurants and bakeries with friends and family, listen to music, and collect blind box figurines. Victor is excited to make memories with new and returning members through AED during his last year at UTD.

Treasurer
Ella Quiambao
Ella is a senior biochemistry student also minoring in public health on the pre-med track. This is her third year in AED and second year on the board. This year, she’s hoping to meet more people in AED, and she’s very excited to serve as as your treasurer this year! In her free time, you can find her walking her dog Bread, trying new recipes, or playing pickleball with friends!

Historian
Emma Watson
Emma is a junior Biology major with a minor in Psychology deciding between the Pre-Dental and Pre-PA tracks. This is Emma’s first year on the executive board and third year as a member. Aside from AED, Emma is a First Year Leader for the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and a Student Ambassador on the Internal and Alumni Affairs Committee. In her free time, Emma enjoys spending time with her loved ones and dog, finding new coffee shops, art, and traveling. Emma is looking forward to connecting with new and existing AED members, capturing memories at various events, and creating a supportive environment for pre-professional students throughout the school year.

Abhinav Kokala
Abhinav is a junior Neuroscience major and Healthcare Management minor on the pre-med track. This will be Abhinav’s first year on the executive board for AED and his second year as a member. Abhinav is also an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Prasad’s Biomedical Devices Microdevices and Nanotechnology lab and a certified EMT. Along with this, Abhinav is also an SI leader for Introduction to Neuroscience and he tutors Calculus outside of the university. In his free time, Abhinav enjoys listening to music, playing soccer, biking, and spending time with friends outdoors. He is excited about AED’s new events and meeting new members!

Fundraising Coordinator
Shayan Ghandi
Shayan is a junior Healthcare Studies major with a Molecular and Cell Biology minor on the pre-dental track. This will be his second year on the AED executive board and third year as a member, and he is looking forward to meeting new members during AED’s various new events this year. Outside of AED, Shayan is a member of the Collegium V Honors Program, serves as an officer in the Pre-Dental Association as well as the American Student Dental Association District 9 Pre-Dental Board, and is a mentor for the Honors Freshman Mentor Program. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends, attending car meets, learning about auto mechanics, and playing tennis. Shayan is excited to provide a welcoming environment for new and returning members during this year’s social and fundraising events!

Social Coordinator
Neha Jarabandi
â €Neha is a sophomore Neuroscience major on the pre-medical track. Aside from being the social coordinator for AED, she is the captain of UTD Laksh, a nationally acclaimed Bollywood fusion dance team, an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Price's Pain Lab, and has certifications as a CNA and EMT! Also, she is currently interning at Fort Bend County in Houston to implement public health initiatives focused on prenatal care for underserved communities by working alongside the Department of Texas Health and Human Services. In her free time, she indulges in her love for reading and embarks on spontaneous road trips with friends, embracing new experiences. She is so excited to help create a more inclusive community and foster personal growth among AED members!

Vidi Konda
Vidi is a senior Computer Science major on the pre-medical track. She has been with AED for three years and this is her second year on the executive board. Vidi is an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Hayenga’s Cardiovascular Mechanobiology and a volunteer at Medical City Plano. In addition, she is also on the executive team of UTD’s Camp Kesem Chapter as well as a member of Dallas Musical Outreach. Outside of school she enjoys singing, painting, watching movies, and trying out new restaurants. Vidi is excited to help bring valuable service opportunities to our members and make new memories!

Service Coordinator
Megan Gi
Megan is a junior Healthcare Studies major, who is on the pre-physician assistant track. Aside from being a service coordinator for AED, Megan is a volunteer clinic manager at Union Gospel Mission’s homeless shelter clinic and works for UTD residential life as a Peer Advisor. In addition to this, she is a part of the Filipino Student Association and served as a Goodphil volleyball captain for the organization as well. In her free time, she likes to rock climb, play volleyball and watch anime. She is super excited to help create a sense of belonging amongst AED members.

Social Chair
Udaya Gyawali
​Udaya is a senior Psychology major and is on the pre-medical track. Aside from being a social chair for AED, Udaya is also the President of the Nepalese Student Association at UTD, a First-Year Leader (FYL), and a mentor for the Freshman Mentor Program (FMP). Udaya is also a hospital volunteer at Medical City Plano. In his free time, Udaya likes to listen to music, play sports, and hang out with his friends. He is excited about the year's social events and getting to know the new and returning members better.

Aastha Nepal
​Aastha Nepal is a junior healthcare studies major in the pre-dental track and minoring in marketing. She is also the vice president of NSA, Nepalese Student Association. Outside of school, she enjoys dancing, working out at the UTD gym, and traveling. She traveled to six countries within the past 6 months in Europe and Asia. She is also an extrovert that loves talking to new people. She can’t wait to get to talk to everyone from the organization and get to know them.

Joel George
Joel is a junior Biology major with a minor in Exercise Science, on the pre-dental track. Outside of AED, he is also the Social Coordinator for the Pre-Dental Association and a Student Ambassador on the Internal and Alumni Affairs Committee at UT Dallas. Outside of his studies and organizational commitments, Joel enjoys working out with his friends, cooking, and loves a good movie and/or show. Joel is excited about the upcoming year with AED and all the events planned. He is looking forward to meeting new people within the organization and embarking on a journey of personal and professional growth together.

Abigail Nguyen
Abigail is a sophomore Neuroscience major and Spanish minor on the pre-medical track. Aside from being a service chair for AED, Abigail is an undergraduate research assistant for the Kroener lab and a part of the Vietnamese Student Association at UTD. She is also a junior board member of St. Faustina’s Outreach in Dallas and an EMT. In her free time, Abigail likes to read, bake, and go to the gym. Abigail is excited to meet new and returning AED members as well as make an impact volunteering for the community.

Shrujin Shah
Shrujin is a sophomore Neuroscience major on the pre-medical track. Aside from being service chair for AED, Shrujin is on the competitive club tennis team, an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Engineer’s Auditory lab, founder and president of the day-trading and investment organization Zero to Hero, and a member of Dallas Formula Racing at UT Dallas. In his free time, Shrujin likes to explore new restaurants with his friends, play volleyball, and go on group rides on his motorcycle. He is extremely excited about working with AED and laying the foundation for countless individuals as they embark on their journey toward a career in healthcare.

Hari Srinivasan
Hari is a junior Neuroscience major on the pre-medical track. Aside from serving as an AED service chair, Hari is an undergraduate TA for Neuroscience, an undergraduate researcher in the Pancrazio lab, and the president of Chemistry Student Association here at UTD. In his free time, he likes to play sports and video games and hang out with his friends. He is excited to be a part of the AED officer board and to get to know new and returning AED members better.

Matthew Lin
Matthew Lin is a sophomore Public Health major on a pre-med track. He’s considering pursuing family medicine in the future, but is also extremely interested in contributing to health policy as an extension of his work. He enjoys socializing with friends, working out while listening to Korean R&B, and spending time with his family back in CA.
