EXECUTIVE BOARD 2021-2022
Cindy is a senior majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology with plans to attend medical school. In addition to being the President of AED, she is a PLTL Team Leader for General Chemistry, undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Palmer’s microbiology lab, Field Training Officer for UEMR, and Head Clinic Manager at Calvert Place. Outside of campus, she is on the Leadership Team for the Lymphoma Research Foundation, a Green Fellow in Dr. Brekken’s surgical oncology lab at UTSW, and works as a taekwondo instructor. During her free time, Cindy enjoys playing the cello, training for her 3rd-degree black belt, hiking, and watching the Mavs/Cowboys.
Veda is a junior majoring in healthcare studies and happy to serve as your Secretary for AED. She is one of UTD’s Mock Trial Captains, a National Merit Student Director, and serves on the Honors CV Council and the Student Advisory Board for the Center for Asian Studies. Veda hopes to attend Pharmacy school after graduation and work in specialty pharmaceuticals with a focus on international healthcare. Her hobbies include watching Netflix, reading , running, painting, and eating
Yasir is currently a senior majoring in neuroscience with a minor in psychology. In addition to being the Secretary/ Vice President for AED, Yasir is a PLTL Leader for general chemistry and a Freshman Mentor. He is also the Lead Clinical Coordinator at the UGM shelter clinics and works as a research assistant in the SLAM Lab exploring the relationship between speech, language, and music. In his free time, Yasir enjoys reading (his favorite author is Malcolm Gladwell), going out to eat, and has recently started listening to audiobooks and podcasts
Riya is a junior majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Spanish. She will be serving as one of your Secretaries for this year. In addition to her work with AED, Riya is a Team Leader for the SSC’s Peer Tutoring program and a research assistant with the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab of Memory. Her favorite part about AED is the many opportunities to get to know so many different people with such diverse goals within the medical field. In her free time, Riya enjoys exploring Dallas and the many museums the city has to offer, reading, and looking for new places to hike.
Swetha is currently a senior majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology heading towards her goal of becoming a medical professional. In addition to being the Webmaster/Historian of AED, Swetha is a First Year Leader, mentor with the Freshman Mentor Program, undergraduate researcher in Dr. Park’s Culture and Affective Neuroscience Lab, and the President for UNICEF at UTD. Swetha is a certified EKG and Pharmacy Technician and is a part of the TEMRAP program which partners with UT Southwestern. In her free time, Swetha enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, playing soccer, painting, and dancing.
Philip is a Junior majoring in Biology with hopes of being a future medical professional. In addition to serving as AED’s Treasurer for the 2021-2022 school year, Philip is also a Patient Transporter at the UT Southwestern Medical Center. His favorite part of AED is getting the chance to meet many like minded people that share the same hopes and goals. In his free time, Philip enjoys watching movies, playing chess, and spending time at the gym.
Minh is currently a Senior majoring in Biology with plans to attend medical school upon graduation. Aside from being a Service Coordinator for AED, Minh also serves as a Student Leader for the Office of Student Volunteerism, a Freshman Mentor, and a clinical research assistant at Methodist Richardson Cancer Center. Her favorite part of AED is being able to connect and bond with new peers during service and social events. In her free time, Minh enjoys sketching sceneries, spending time with her family, and going on food adventures!
Shaista is currently a Junior majoring in Biology with plans to attend dental school. In addition to being an AED Service Coordinator, she is a PLTL Leader for General Chemistry and a Freshman Mentor. Outside of campus, she is a Girl Scout Leader and works as a Pharmacy Technician. Her favorite part of AED is making an impact in her community along with members and officers. During her free time, Shaista enjoys staying active through working out and hiking and engaging in different kinds of art like painting and photography!
Megan is a senior majoring in Molecular Biology with the end goal of specializing in trauma surgery. In addition to serving as AED's Fundraising Coordinator, she is a Captain of University Emergency Medical Response as well as a standby EMT for concerts and other venues. Megan has been a Research Associate at UT Southwestern through the TEMRAP program and a Teaching Assistant for Biology I. In her free time, she likes to weightlift, read, or go for rides on her motorcycle.
Rev is currently a junior majoring in Neuroscience. On top of being AED’s 2021-2022 Social Coordinator, Rev is an Administrative Officer for the University Emergency Medical Response Team, and an officer for a Music Organization called DMO. He also has been a part of the Texas Biomedical Engineering Research Lab as well as Dr. Price’s Neuroscience Lab in the Clark Summer Research Program. Rev has been a part of UTD’s Model United Nations team and has tutored kids through Intellichoice. In his free time, Rev enjoys writing music, playing outdoor activities, and occasionally taking a road trip to a different state.
Nathan is currently a junior majoring in biology. In addition to being social chair for AED, Nathan is a First Year Leader and an undergraduate research assistant for Dr. Hayenga's Mechanobiology Lab. Outside of campus, he works as a medical assistant and enjoys being active in his local community. His favorite part about AED is getting the chance to meet many like-minded individuals during service and social events. In his free time, Nathan enjoys watching football, trying new food spots, and spending time with his family and friends.
Jahnavi is currently a junior majoring in Biology and minoring in Political Science. In addition to being an AED Service Chair, Jahnavi is a First Year Leader, a member of UTD’s Mock Trial team, and volunteer at Medical City Plano. In her free time, Jahnavi enjoys playing piano, reading, finding new shows to watch on Netflix, and exploring new places!
Subhaan is a sophomore majoring in neuroscience with plans to attend medical school. In addition to being a service chair, Subhaan is a mentor in the Freshman Mentors Program, Clinic Manager at the UGM shelters, and Hospital Screener for COVID-19 at Methodist Richardson Medical Center. He looks forward to having in person events next semester and meeting all the amazing new people. In his free time, he loves playing different sports, gaming with his friends, and watching anime.
Leela is a sophomore Biochemistry major, who is on the pre-medical track. Aside from being a service chair for AED, Leela volunteers for Camp Kesem, another UTD organization, and serves on the coordinator board for the organization as well. She is also an active volunteer at the Agape Clinic in Dallas. In her free time, she likes to read, dance and go hiking. She is super excited to return to in-person learning and getting to meet both returning and new AED members.
Shadi is currently a Junior majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Political Science. In addition to being a Service Chair for AED, Shadi is a mentor in the Freshman Mentor Program, a medical scribe, and a volunteer at the West Plano Medical Associates. Her favorite part about AED is connecting with the members and participating in social and service events together. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and playing different instruments.
Shay is a senior biochemistry student from Salt Lake City, Utah. He loves interacting with all the unique individuals at UTDallas, and is grateful for the many ways to get involved and explore the world that college offers. When he lets his long hair down, the adventures begin and he starts getting a little too wild for the purposes of AED. He loves exploring outdoors, spending time joking around with his friends, and boosting around on anything that will take him somewhere (skateboards, snowboards, jet skis, and all the fancy sports cars he does not have). He is very excited to be your service chair, and looks forward to making the most out of AED for the 2021-22 academic year.
Victor is a sophomore majoring in Biology with hopes of attending medical school. In addition to being a Service Chair for AED, Victor is an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Park’s Culture and Affective Neuroscience Lab and secretary of the local chapter of Scope Research. Outside of UTD, Victor enjoys his time as a Clinic Manager at the UGM shelters and a volunteer at BSW Plano and Methodist Richardson Medical Center. In his free time, Victor enjoys listening to music, reading, and trying new food spots with friends and family.
