EXECUTIVE BOARD 2020-2021
Nikole is currently a senior majoring in Neuroscience. In addition to being the President of AED, Nikole is on the Youth Leadership board for CCNT which is a cultural Filipino organization. She is also an Executive First Year Leader and works part time teaching at elementary schools. In her free time Nikole enjoys thrift shopping and has recently gotten back into creating art.
Cindy is a junior majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology with plans to attend medical school. In addition to being the Vice President of AED, she is a PLTL Team Leader for General Chemistry, undergraduate researcher in Dr. Palmer’s microbiology lab, and Head Clinic Manager at Calvert Place. Outside of campus, she is an EMT for Texas Medical Elite, on the Leadership Team for the Lymphoma Research Foundation, and works as a taekwondo instructor. During her free time, Cindy enjoys playing the cello, training for her 3rd-degree black belt, hiking, photography, and watching the Mavs/Cowboys.
Veda is a junior majoring in healthcare studies and happy to serve as your Secretary for AED. She is one of UTD’s Mock Trial Captains, a National Merit Student Director, and serves on the Honors CV Council and the Student Advisory Board for the Center for Asian Studies. Veda hopes to attend Pharmacy school after graduation and work in specialty pharmaceuticals with a focus on international healthcare. Her hobbies include watching Netflix, reading , running, painting, and eating
Taylor is a senior majoring in neuroscience and minoring in public health. She plans on attending medical school after taking a year to travel and work in various clinics in different countries. In addition to being the Treasurer of AED, she is also one of the co-presidents for Medlife at UTD. In her free time, Taylor enjoys cooking/baking, reading, trying new local spots, and watching Hulu or netflix.
Swetha is currently a junior majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology heading towards her goal of becoming a medical professional. In addition to being the Webmaster/Historian of AED, Swetha is a First Year Leader, mentor with the Freshman Mentor Program, undergraduate researcher in Dr. Park’s Culture and Affective Neuroscience Lab, and the Volunteer Coordinator for UNICEF. Swetha is a certified EKG and Pharmacy Technician and is a part of the TEMRAP program which partners with UT Southwestern. In her free time, Swetha enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, playing soccer, painting, and dancing.
Yasir is currently a junior majoring in neuroscience. In addition to being the Service Coordinator for AED, Yasir is a PLTL Leader for general chemistry, a Freshman Mentor, and a volunteer in the SERV program. He is also a Head Undergraduate Clinic Manager at UGM shelter clinics. In his free time, Yasir enjoys reading (his favorite author is Malcolm Gladwell), running in and exploring parks and nature preserves, and has recently started playing tennis.
Ashley is a junior majoring in Biology and minoring in Business Administration with hopes of attending medical school. Along with being one of the Service Coordinators for AED, Ashley is also a Head Clinic Manager at the UGM shelters, a Peer Advisor in the residence halls, and an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Thorn’s neuroscience lab. Her favorite part about AED is getting to connect with other pre-health members through a shared passion for service. In her free time, Ashley enjoys board games, bowling, and film photography.
Megan is a junior majoring in Molecular Biology. She plans to attend medical school and is interested in pursuing neonatal or trauma surgery. She’s excited to engage with AED members throughout the online semester and hopes to help the AED community and connections through these uncertain times. In addition to being the Fundraising Coordinator for AED, she is an on-campus EMT through UEMR, a Research Associate at Parkland Hospital through the TEMRAP program, and a Teaching Assistant for Biology I. In her free time, Megan enjoys weightlifting, riding her motorcycle, listening to music, reading, baking, and bullet journaling.
Riya is currently a sophomore majoring in Cognitive Science. Along with being the Social Coordinator for AED, Riya is also an Peer Tutor for organic chemistry and a research assistant with the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab of Memory. Her favorite part about AED is the many opportunities to get to know so many different people with such diverse goals within the medical field. In her free time, Riya enjoys exploring Dallas and the many museums the city has to offer, reading, and looking for new places to hike.
Rev is currently a sophomore majoring in Neuroscience. While being the Social Coordinator Chair for AED, Rev is also an active member in the TxBDC Biomedical Research lab as a research assistant. He is also involved in various musical activities such as Dallas Musical Winds, a Community Jazz Band, and a band of his own. Apart from medical experience, Rev enjoys playing a variety of sports, writing music with friends, and also exploring every inch of the world!
Shalom is currently a senior pursuing a major in Biology, and plans to attend medical school. Along with being one of the service chairs for AED, Shalom is also a Freshman Mentor and a First Year Leader. Even though events and meetings may be virtual going forward, he is excited to interact with all of the new members! Shalom loves to workout, play basketball, football, badminton and soccer in his spare time, as well as play guitar for his church.
Shaista is a sophomore majoring in Biology and minoring in Cognitive Science with plans to attend dental school. In addition to being an AED service chair, she is a PLTL Leader for General Chemistry and Freshmen Mentor. Outside of campus, she is a Girl Scout Leader and works as a Pharmacy Technician. During her free time, Shaista enjoys staying active, watching netflix, and spending time with her friends and family.
Shay is a junior biochemistry student from Salt Lake City, Utah. He loves interacting with all the unique individuals at UTDallas, and is grateful for the many ways to get involved and explore the world that college offers. When he lets his long hair down, the adventures begin and he starts getting a little too wild for the purposes of AED. He loves exploring outdoors, spending time joking around with his friends, and boosting around on anything that will take him somewhere (skateboards, snowboards, jet skis, and all the fancy sports cars he does not have). He is very excited to be your service chair, and looks forward to making the most out of AED for the 2020-21 academic year.
Minh is currently a Junior majoring in Biology with plans to attend medical school upon graduation. Aside from being a Service Chair for AED, Minh also serves as a Student Leader for the Office of Student Volunteerism, a Freshman Mentor, and a clinical research assistant at Parkland Hospital through the TEMRAP program. Her favorite part of AED is being able to connect and bond with new peers during service and social events. In her free time, Minh enjoys sketching sceneries, spending time with her family, and recently started scrapbooking!
Philip is a Sophomore majoring in Biology with hopes to attend medical school upon completion of his undergraduate degree. In addition to being a Service Chair for AED he is also an SI Leader for General Chemistry. His favorite part about AED is getting to simultaneously serve the community and make new friends through service. In his free time, Philip enjoys seeing movies, watching Youtube, and spending time with friends whether that be at the gym or around town.
