Meet the 2026-2027 Board

President

Raina Karakkattil

Raina is a senior Neuroscience major on the pre-medical track. Aside from serving as President for AED, Raina is an undergraduate research assistant in the Sadler Lab and a volunteer medical assistant at the Union Gospel Mission clinic. She also serves as the Senior Team Leader of the Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) Program at UTD, Director for Aaja Nachle (DFW’s Premier Fusion Dance Competition), Vice President for the UTD South Asian American Voter Empowerment Club, and a mentor in the Freshman Mentor Program. In her free time, Raina enjoys dancing, traveling to exciting places, and getting lost in a good book. She is thrilled to return to the AED officer board and looks forward to another impactful year serving its members.

Vice President

Ryan Ju

Ryan is a fast-track M.S. Applied Cognition and Neuroscience major who is on the pre-medical track. Aside from serving as Vice President for AED, Ryan is a swim instructor for the City of Plano Swimmers, a volunteer tutor for underprivileged kids at For Love of Children, a certified EMT, a surgical tech at the Mapleshade Surgery Center, and a paid graduate researcher assistant in the Axon Biology and Neuroinformatics lab. In his free time, Ryan enjoys visiting national parks, playing and watching sports, and relaxing with friends and family. He is super excited to return to the AED board and continue serving AED.

Co Secretary

Amir Khalili

Amir is a Biology major and Secondary STEM Education minor in the Hobson Wildenthal Honors College on the pre-medical track. In addition to AED, Amir is a part of the UTeach program and serves as an Event Coordinator and Secretary for the Dallas Persian Association. He mentors incoming students as a First Year Leader, participates in the TEMRAP clinical research program at Parkland Hospital, and conducts research in a neurobiology lab. In his free time, Amir loves running, listening to music, and volunteering.

Co Secretary

Shriman Thandra

Shriman is a Biology major and IPE minor on the pre-medical track. Alongside serving as the secretary, he is an Eagle Scout, and works as an EMT at a nephrology clinic. Beyond academics Shriman enjoys going to the gym, playing Halo, and learning new languages. He is looking forward to serving as secretary this year, and making more new connections with AED members.

Treasurer

Adeena Zaidi

Adeena is a senior majoring Neuroscience with a minor in Public Health on the Pre-Medical track. This will be her fourth year as a member and is looking forward to meeting the new members in the AED events this year. Outside of AED, Adeena is a member of the Collegium V Honors Program and is a director of Camp Kesem Organization at UTD. She is currently doing clinical research at Dallas Regional Medical Center to help with Alzheimer’s patients, shadows in multiple neurology and family medicine clinics, and is EMT certified. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, reading books, and spending time with friends and family. Adeena is excited to continue serving as AED's Treasurer!

Service Coordinator

Aali Shah

Aali is a junior Biology major with a minor in Psychology on the pre-medical track.  Alongside being a service coordinator for AED, he also competes internationally with HOSA, and pursues undergraduate research on campus.  Aali is a Medical Assistant at a clinic in Southlake, and in his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, spending time with friends and family, cooking, and sleeping.  He’s excited to meet all the new and returning AED members and work with them to make this year’s service events engaging, fun, and memorable!

Service Coordinator

Leyna Tran

Leyna is a junior Biomedical Sciences major with a Psychology minor on the pre-medical track. Outside of AED, Leyna works as a CCMA at a primary care clinic and volunteers at an ophthalmology clinic, assisting with basic eye exams for children in underserved areas. She is also a mentor with the Freshman Mentor Program and a TA for Biology II. Leyna enjoys going to matcha popups, cafe hopping, and spending time with friends and family! She is looking forward to getting to know all the new and returning members this year!

Social Coordinator

Isabella Pitre

Isabella is a senior Biomedical Sciences major with a minor in Psychology on the pre-dental track. Outside of AED, she also works as a dental assistant and a Peer Advisor, volunteers with Three Oaks Hospice, and enjoys being a member of on campus organizations such as the Pre-Dental Association and First Year Leader Program. In her free time she enjoys running and beach volleyball, going to concerts, hiking, and rating restaurants. She is so excited to meet new faces and bring in the fun through AED socials

Riya Sanghani

Riya is a senior majoring in Healthcare Studies with a minor in Biology on the pre-dental track. In addition to AED, Riya is a mentor in the Freshman Mentor Program, serves as a First-Year Leader, and works at a dental office. She is involved in several pre-dental organizations, including the Pre-Dental Association and Dental Connection Network, where she serves as President. She is also the co-founder and President of the Care Crafts Project, a service organization at UTD. In her free time, Riya enjoys reading books, traveling, and watching movies with her family. She is so excited to plan fun social events and create opportunities for members to connect throughout the year!

Fundraising Coordinator

LanUyen Le

LanUyen is a Public Health major with a minor in Biology on the pre-dental track. When she’s not planning fundraising events for AED, she’s teaching piano at a music school, performing in dance showcases, or helping fellow students as a Biology II Teaching Assistant. She’s also a social coordinator for UTD’s Pre-Dental Association and loves volunteering with underserved dental patients at various locations throughout North Texas. In her free time, LanUyen can be found biking along nature trails, hiking, crafting, and trying out new cafe study spots!

Historian

Katelyn Luu

​​Katelyn is a senior Healthcare Studies major and Psychology minor on the Pre-Medical track. She currently works as a Medical Assistant at a Primary Care clinic and volunteers for Angel Hands Hospice & Palliative care and Highland Springs Senior Living. In addition to AED, she serves as a Student Ambassador on the communications team for UTD and is involved in AMWA and the Freshman Mentor Program. In her free time, she loves taking pictures, dancing, going to concerts, and exploring different matcha spots in the Dallas area. She looks forward to making new memories in AED and capturing unforgettable moments throughout the school year!

Webmaster

Ojas Kaveeshwar

Ojas is a senior Computer Science major on the pre-medical track. In addition to serving as the webmaster for AED, Ojas is involved in undergraduate research and clinical volunteering. He is also a biochemistry tutor at the chemistry clinic and shadows a psychiatrist at Texas Health Dallas. In his free time, Ojas loves to paint, read mystery novels, go for long jogs, and watch the Dallas Mavs play. As one of the returning leaders on the AED Officer Board, he is very excited to be interacting with other officers and members.

Clinical Outreach Coordinator

Megan Sanguedolce

Megan is a senior Neuroscience major with a minor in biology and M.A.S.H, on the pre-perfusion track. In addition to AED, she works in the SOC as an office assistant and is a Newborn Hearing Screening Technician in the postpartum and NICU units at Methodist. She is also a member of College Life at UTD. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, camping, spending time with family and friends, and doing arts and crafts.

Clinical Outreach Chair

Naga Kondepati

Naga is a sophomore Biochemistry major on the pre-medical track. In addition to AED, she serves as the Media and Communications Coordinator for Atoms and Ions Biochemistry Club, and is involved in undergraduate research on antimicrobial resistance. She is also a research intern at the CROW Museum of Asian Art, studying Ming dynasty cast-iron sculpture techniques. In her free time, Naga enjoys playing the piano, biking, reading mystery novels, and painting Impressionist-inspired flowers

Service Chair

Jaedon Joffi

Jaedon is a sophomore Neuroscience major on the pre-medical track. In addition to AED, Jaedon is involved in undergraduate research under the Meyers Lab, serves as the Education officer for the Accessible Prosthetics Initiative, and works for the Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) Program at UTD. He currently plays electric guitar in bands for Strings Attached concerts, is part of the mechanical arm prosthesis and prosthetic Aids team in API, is a member of the climbing club, and volunteers with KDSAP. In his free time, Jaedon enjoys engraving, high adventure, trying restaurant recs, and going to the gym. He can’t wait to see you guys at Harvest Garden and ACEing Autism events!

Mark Daaboul

Mark is a sophomore Neuroscience major and Philosophy minor on the pre-medical track. In addition to AED, Mark is involved in undergraduate research, and is Treasurer of the Neuroscience Student Association and Secretary of Artists in Medicine. He also works as a surgical assistant for Neponset Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates. Mark loves swimming, lifting, cooking and traveling. He can’t wait to bring AED to new and exciting service events this year

Angelina Cao

Angelina is a junior Neuroscience major with a minor in Biology on the pre-medical track. In addition to AED, Angelina is the Co-president of Heroes United FC, works for the Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) Program at UTD, and is a Teaching Assistant under Dr. Salamat. In her free time, Angelina loves contemporary and hip-hop dance, singing, traveling, and going to concerts. She’s excited to serve the AED members and create a supportive community!

Shriya Aruva

Shriya is a junior Neuroscience major with a Psychology minor on the pre-medical track. Outside of AED, she conducts undergraduate neuroscience research studying social interactions in mice, serves as an officer for HOSA, and works as a Cognitive Coach at Brain Balance, where she helps children develop cognitive, sensory, and motor skills. She is passionate about serving the community through volunteer work and hopes to pursue a career in medicine. Outside of academics, Shriya enjoys playing golf, traveling, working out, and spending time with friends. She looks forward to creating meaningful service opportunities for AED members throughout the year!

Leanne Tran

Leanne is a junior Biology major with a minor in Psychology on the pre-medical track. Outside of AED, Leanne volunteers as a medical assistant at the United Gospel Mission clinic, is involved in Heroes United FC as the co-vice president, and is a mentor for the Freshmen Mentor Program. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, cafe hopping with her friends, and loves to collect figurines. She is excited to meet all the members and create lots of fun memories with everyone!

Ashley McDonald

Ashley is a Junior Biology major with a minor in Spanish on the pre-medical track. In addition to AED, she serves as Co-Secretary on Heroes United FC and Lead Curator on Doc That Talk, and studied abroad in Spain this past summer! Ashley is also involved in undergraduate research as part of the Kim lab, where she uses molecular biology techniques to genetically manipulate Group B Streptococcus (GBS) and study gene function. In her free time she loves spending time with friends and family, trying new food/drink places around the dfw area, and going to concerts! She is looking forward to the new school year and meeting AED members at her service events!

Emily McDonald

Emily is a Junior Biology major with a minor in Spanish on the pre-medical track. In addition to AED, Emily is involved with undergraduate research in the Sin Lab, where she studies how Cocksackievirus B manipulates host cell pathways, including mitochondrial quality control and chaperone proteins to better understand viral infection. She also mentors students as a First Year Leader (FYL), serves as Co-Secretary for FC Heroes United, and is Lead Visionary for DocThatTalk. In her free time, Emily enjoys traveling, going to concerts, and trying out new coffee shops. She is looking forward to seeing everyone at service events and making new connections with members throughout the year!

Yousef Kadri

Yousef is a junior psychology major pursuing the pre-med track. Along with being a service chair with AED, Yousef is the secretary for HOSA UTD and the PR for Nueroden. Yousef is also an undergraduate researcher at the Dingal lab. In his free time, Yousef loves to play many sports such as Basketball and Fútball, he also loves to make music. This year Yousef is looking forward to meeting new AED members and deepening existing relationships with AED members, hoping to have a positive impact on everyone’s experience.
